|Explore the Underwater World! National Museum of Marine Science and Technology Main Hall
Located in Keelung, the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology is a museum that combines marine and technological themes. The main hall features eight exhibition halls and a special exhibition hall, including the Marine Environment Hall, Marine Science Hall, Ship and Ocean Engineering Hall, Fisheries Hall, Marine Culture Hall, Deep Sea Imaging Hall, Deep Sea Display Hall, and the Children's Hall. Each hall has its own unique features and a variety of exhibits. Through various interactive facilities, visitors can deeply appreciate how closely related the ocean is to us, from environmental and climate impacts to everyday items. The ocean has a profound connection with everything. If you want to "understand the ocean, get close to the ocean, and sustain the ocean," the main hall is definitely a must-visit place!
Originally the site of the Northern Thermal Power Plant, it has now been transformed into the main hall of the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology!
The museum features many interactive installations in its exhibition areas, allowing both adults and children to learn about the ocean while having fun.
The enormous whale shark and other Pacific fish swimming in the ocean scenery will definitely leave you awestruck!
The Science Hall showcases the origins of the Earth and the ocean, and includes experimental devices that simulate deep-sea pressure and instruments used in marine surveys and resource exploration. You can even try them out yourself!
|Grand Opening! Chaojing Smart Marine Center
Located in Keelung, the "Chaojing Smart Marine Center" is the latest masterpiece of the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology! It is also the first mixed reality aquarium in the "Northern Taiwan and Keelung" area, combining "marine biology and technological development." Visitors can enjoy not only static displays but also immersive experiences that feel like being underwater.
【Main Exhibition Area A】
It includes five major exhibition areas: Guests of Chaojing, Fish of Chaojing, Underwater Views, Dancers of the Tide, and Tidal Watercolor. Using a combination of technology and marine biology displays, the exhibition explores the diversity of life, ecological nurturing, and survival adaptations in Chaojing Bay. Visitors are invited to gain therapeutic and creative inspiration through hands-on activities and audiovisual performances.
[B Interactive Experience and Rest Area]
The Intertidal Corridor features the Microbe Defense Battle, including three interactive experience installations: Seal Family, N-Dimensional Pioneer, and VR Ocean Defender. Visitors can feed the baby seals and mother seals, learning about the challenges seals face due to melting ice from climate change, or they can save rare deep-sea species and clean up various underwater debris. Additionally, visitors can enjoy food and beverages at the rest area café and satisfy their shopping needs. (The interactive experiences Seal Family, N-Dimensional Pioneer, and VR Ocean Defender require an additional fee.)
[Marine Center C]
The original marine life and coral restoration base houses Taiwan's only legally certified and identity-verified dragon kingfish. It also has the largest number of locally bred clownfish in Taiwan. In addition to being a coral restoration site in the north, it is also the current restoration base for horseshoe crabs in northern Taiwan.
