National Palace Museum
The National Palace Museum houses a collection of Chinese historical artifacts and art masterpieces, which can be roughly divided into bronzeware, calligraphy and painting, ceramics, books and documents, handicrafts, and palace cultural relics. Famous bronzewares include the Mao Gongding, the San-Shi Pan, and the Zong Zhou Bell. The three famous calligraphy and painting works are Guo Xi's "Early Spring," Fan Kuan's "Travelers Amid Mountains and Streams," and Su Shi's "Cold Food Observance." Famous books and documents include the Complete Library of the Four Treasuries housed in the Wenyuan Pavilion, and the Summaries of the Complete Library of the Four Treasuries in the Chai Zhaotang. The handicrafts are the biggest feature of the National Palace Museum, including the must-see star exhibits, the Jadeite Cabbage and the Meat-shaped Stone, and approximately tens of thousands of pieces of jade ware, as well as lacquerware, glass, gold and silver ware, and brush and ink paper inkstones.
On your first visit, you can focus on the popular exhibits mentioned above, and if time allows, you can also visit other exhibits, such as the Qing Dynasty coral Kui Xing Dian Dou Bonsai, the Tang Dynasty gray pottery and painted female figurines, the Northern Song Dynasty Ru kiln celadon lotus-shaped warming bowl, the Qing Dynasty Qianlong Ji Qing Miao Jin Youyu Zhuan Xin Ping, the Warring States period inlaid peacock stone turquoise Xizun, the Eastern Han Dynasty Jade Pi Xie, the Song to Yuan Dynasty Yellow Jade Duck, etc. The exhibits in the museum are regularly updated, and special exhibitions are organized according to different themes to meet the needs of travelers exploring Chinese culture that spans thousands of years.
※This admission ticket allows access to all current exhibitions in the main building of the exhibition area in the Northern Branch, as well as a visit to the Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines on the same day.
