Yingge has its history in producing ceramics for more than two hundred years and is the most famous region for ceramic production in Taiwan.

The New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum opened on November 26, 2000.

It is Taiwan’s first ceramics-themed museum. The museum is dedicated to the investigation, assortment, preservation, and maintenance while performing work in research, collection, exhibition, and education of Taiwan’s ceramics art.

The Museum also enthusiastically engages in international communication and collaboration with offering residence for international artists, joining the International Council of Museums, and engaging in sister museums partnership with museums in Germany and Spain; furthermore, winning the right to host the “2018 International Academy of Ceramics” event. The museum is committed to spreading the beauty of Taiwan’s ceramics to the world and presenting the energy of Taiwan’s ceramics culture and contemporary ceramics art to all. It is also dedicated to innovations in visitor services, such as providing mobile phone charging, extending service time, and setting up a bookcrossing spot. After years of hard work, the number of visitors to the museum has reached the highest record of 1.24 million people in 2013. These innovations have also earned recognition from all walks of life, and have won “The Top 10 Public Exhibitions”, “Golden Lion Award, Educational Category - The National Golden Award of Architecture”, “First Prize of Judges - The National Golden Award of Architecture”, and other achievements, bringing a wonderful cultural life for the public.

Holiday - Saturday and Sunday 9:30 to 18:00
Closed on the first Monday of every month (if a public holiday falls on the first Monday of the month, the museum will be open on that day and closed the next day), and Chinese New Year's Eve and New Year’s Day. Non-working days due to natural disasters, which are announced by the government, and other necessary closures, will be informed separately.
