The Maokong Gondola is the first cable car system in Taipei City, using the automatic circulating system produced by the French company POMA. It is 4.03 kilometers long and takes about 30 minutes for a one-way trip. There are four stations along the line for passengers to get on and off: "Zoo Station," "Zoo South Station," "South Gongguan Station," and "Maokong Station."
The three most beautiful moments to ride the cable car are after the rain when the clouds and mist are present, during the sunset, and at night when the city lights sparkle. As you board the cable car and move forward with the ups and downs of the mountain, you can see the moving trains of the MRT, the riverside park of Jingmei, and the giraffe incinerator. When you reach the second station, there will be a big turn where you can have a panoramic view of the freeway traffic. After passing the Zhinan Temple Station Station, you will enter a V-shaped steep slope, which is the climax of the cable car journey and will leave you with a memorable experience.
