- Chenghuang Temple
Chenghuang Temple (or City of God) is a temple that has become the home of Keelung’s finest Beiguan orchestra. Beiguan music is a form of theatrical music that originated in China and taiwan in the 17th century. This ancient performance art has been largely unchanged since its birth and has been preserved with the confines of the Chenghuang temple. Our tour guide will guide you through the performance highlighting the link between Beiguan music and the history of the Chenghuang temple.
- Nanguan music hall
Nanguan music is a delicate and melodic type of chinese classical music that was also popular in Taiwan in the 17th century. the nanguan music hall in Taipei is one of Taiwan's last remaining Nanguan music communities that try their best to keep this heritage alive so that future generations may also enjoy its beautiful soothing sound. This lovely centenarian music hall is situated under a bridge and is unbeknownst to most people even local but the artists as well as our tour guide are eager to bring back Nanguan back into our lives.
- Herb Alley
Walk out of the Miaokou Night Market and stand in front of these herb shops that are hundreds of years old. It’s like a mini-botanical garden, overflowing with green and written in ancient wisdom. An aluminum box with red paper says the never-seen name: Guanyin string, gold belt, double-sided thorn, watery lilac, white dragon boat. Behind each, there are more stories.
- Fude Temple
The Fude Temple (or Earth God Temple) it is believed that the temple has stood for over 160 years and still plays an important role in the local belief system.
The dreamlike lighting of the pink lanterns in the small dark alley creates a mystical atmosphere as you make your way through a beautiful scenery of traditional shops reminiscent of the Japanese colonial age.
